Why ADAPTR exists
Imagine having unconstrained access to electricity, with resiliency that overcomes weather challenges, and at costs that does not stifle prosperity. Imagine all these benefits without harmful emissions.
Our founder envisioned this energy reality using renewables in 2018. However, as a wind energy professional, he was frustrated by the value proposition of renewables being the reverse of consumers’ Hierarchy of Energy Priorities. He felt it was necessary to adapt renewable energy solutions to align with consumer priorities. Adaptive Renewables, ADAPTR, was thus born.
Today, ADAPTR focuses on innovative renewable energy management and power conversion solutions to meet consumers’ energy priorities. In doing so, ADAPTR helps unlock opportunities for renewable energy generators, electric utilities and industrial consumers, propelling electrification and energy transition.

ADAPTR’s Principals
Over 40 years of experience in renewable energy and power systems, spanning technical and commercial realms.
Hassan is driven by a desire to solve meaningful challenges. He founded ADAPTR to enhance the value proposition of renewables, and to enable unconstrained electrification. Hassan also took on the challenge to ensure the continuity of the iconic wind turbine in the City of Toronto, serving as President of the Co-op that owns it, paving the way for the project’s next 20 years, and preserving an inspirational symbol for sustainable energy.
During his 8 year wind energy career at ENERCON, Hassan was responsible for taking on complex projects. He led commercial transactions for over 500MW of wind projects across Canada, including the first large wind-diesel project at Diavik Diamond Mine and the first 100% First Nation-owned wind project in the country.
Hassan was influenced to pursue renewables by William Kamkawamba’s TED talk. He was inspired to pursue ADAPTR after witnessing his mother empower families to overcome poverty in rural Bangladesh. Hassan enjoys communicating complex topics to diverse audience, and is often solicited to speak at conferences.
Amgad leads technology development of ADAPTR’s products. He is a veteran in performing leading edge R&D works having served as a University professor responsible for his own micro-grid lab and having worked at ENERCON’s R&D department at Aurich, Germany. Prior to ADAPTR, Amgad had extensive experience advising leading engineering companies, utilities and renewable and power project developers.
Amgad received his BSc and MSc from Cairo University and his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, Canada in 2010, all in electrical engineering with specialization in power systems and power electronics. He also served as a Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto working on applications of power electronics.
Dr. El-Deib has published a number of papers in IEEE and IET journals and conferences. He is an IEEE member where he actively performs technical peer-review for IEEE Power Electronics, Magnetics and Industrial Applications Societies journals and conference publications.
